Music Builds Confidence

Over the years, music has become one of my biggest builders of confidence. In sixth grade, I barely knew how to read sheet music. Today, I perform in jazz and wind ensemble bands, and stand in front of crowds improvising solos. I’ve grown into someone who is comfortable stepping onto a stage. Each rehearsal, solo, and performance has pushed me to trust my preparation and believe in my ability to deliver when the lights come on. Music has taught me how to stay calm, focused, keep and switch rhythm, and be expressive under pressure. I see the fruits of this labor spill over into athletics, academics, and everything else I do. Every concert is another reminder of how far I’ve come, what I can build, and confidence in how far I will go.
