Motivation
Right now, my main focus is to show up for my goals. It can be a challenge to stay present and do what is necessary when motivation isn’t high. I remind myself to keep the pace, move forward. This past week my goal has been to increase the connectivity of my swim mechanics. I know this will only happen if I stay consistent. Paying attention to my routines, breaking everything down to the basics and building up to create habits easily accessible when I compete. Some days feel

Nutrition
Training year-round in swimming, while also competing in three other sports, means my body never really gets an off-season. I’ve learned that eating enough every day is essential if I want to keep a steady, healthy weight increase instead of burning out. This means large nutritious meals packed with protein and carbs backed with healthy snacks throughout the day and in between trainings. When I fuel properly, my workouts are more productive, my recovery is quicker, and I’m ab

Personal Record!
My first meet as a sophomore this year ended up being a lot better than I expected, especially in the event I was worried about the most: 200 IM. In music and school, the same focus shows up when I slow down tough measures, revise my writing, and double-check my work. These little habits

Music Builds Confidence
Over the years, music has become one of my biggest builders of confidence. In sixth grade, I barely knew how to read sheet music. Today, I perform in jazz and wind ensemble bands, and stand in front of crowds improvising solos. I’ve grown into someone who is comfortable stepping onto a stage. Each rehearsal, solo, and performance has pushed me to trust my preparation and believe in my ability to deliver when the lights come on. Music has taught me how to stay calm, focused, k

The Thing About Recovery
Recovery doesn’t just mean getting enough rest. Today, after finishing my baseball and strength training, I decided to slow things down for a bit. I spent the evening fishing, just enjoying the quiet and giving myself space to breathe. I find that fishing allows my body and mind to recover. During that time I process what I’ve learned, gained, and practiced. It allows me to come back the next day more focused and locked in, able to access my focus flow with new results.
